The Nashua Firefighters Memorial Located at the intersection of Concord Street and Manchester Street. IN MEMORY OF OUR FALLEN BROTHERS Firefighter Marc Bechard Died in the line of duty on March 16, 1987 after collapsing at the station shortly after returning from a call. The cause of death was ruled to be a brain hemorrhage. Firefighter Bechard was 28 years old. Lieutenant David Sullivan Died in the line of duty on November 27, 1978 while operating at a 2nd alarm fire at 23-25 East Pearl Street. Lt Sullivan suffered a heart attack while climbing an aerial ladder. Lieutenant Sullivan was 36 years old. Captain Honre` Raymond Died in the line of duty on March 8, 1971 after suffering a heart attack while operating at a 2nd alarm building fire on Damon Avenue. Captain Raymond was 60 years old and a 28 year veteran of the Nashua Fire Department. Captain Raymond Duplissie Died in the line of duty on May 1, 1950 after suffering a heart attack in the fire house after returning from a smoke investigation at a Main Street Hotel. Captain Duplissie was 54 years old. Captain Alfred Laplante Died in the line of duty on January 12, 1949 while responding with Hose 1 to a multiple alarm fire at the Downtowner on Chestnut Street. The apparatus rolled over at the corner of Main and Temple Streets. Captain Laplante was 48 years old. Firefighter George McCaughney Died in the line of duty on January 12, 1949 while responding with Hose 1 to a multiple alarm fire at the Downtowner on Chestnut Street. The apparatus rolled over at the corner of Main and Temple Streets. Firefighter McCaughney was 33 years old. Lieutenant Sylvio Vigneault Died in the line of duty on August 24, 1948 after suffering a heart attack at the station. Lieutenant Vigneault took a considerable amount of smoke at a fire a few days earlier. Deputy Chief Guy Lewis Died in the line of duty on July 3, 1944 after suffering a heart attack at the station. Deputy Lewis was 46 years old. Chief Engineer William E. Whitney Died in the line of duty on October 17, 1940 from overexertion while fighting a brush fire near Runnel's Bridge. Chief Whitney was 64 years old.
Firefighter George Hidden Died in the line of duty on May 31, 1909 after he fell off a horse drawn apparatus while reaching down for the reins. Firefighter Hidden was 68 years old. Firefighter Robert Poff Died in the line of duty on February 21, 1895 after slipping off the horse drawn engine he was operating as it turned onto Hollis Street coming out of Crown Hill. Firefighter Poff was crushed when the wheels rolled over his head. His death was the first firefighter death for the department since it was incorporated. Firefighter Poff was 32 years old.
