Hi Local Presidents and Legislative Contacts,
Highlights this week
- Heavy LGC media
- Berlin approves application for SAFER
- Budget talks begins
Legislation
- HB 124: relative to the determination of gainful occupation for a group II member receiving an accidental disability retirement allowance from the retirement system.
- Because the House did not meet this week, under the Rules a committee of conference had to be put together to deal with this bill
- The CofC met this morning at 10am and the House accepted the Senate position with no problem.
- The CofC report now needs to be voted on by both the House and Senate, but we do not anticipate any problems.
- Budget
- The House and Senate budget teams met this morning to begin to hash out the budget. Talks will continue until next Thursday. We will be watching for anything involving labor, retirement, the fire academy, health care, and anything else that could affect us.
Upcoming
- 2013 Honor Flight
- Please see attached a notice from L-3160 President Bo Butler on the upcoming Honor Flight next Sunday at Manchester Regional Airport. “It was the welcome-home that I never received…the greatest day of my life” words from a 97 year-old veteran when asked what he thought of last year’s send off.
- PFFNH on the Road
- Wednesday I sent out an email to Local Presidents requesting dates and times for upcoming Local meetings if they were interested in having PFFNH join them for their meeting to update your members, take their questions, and listen to their concerns.
- So far I have only heard from 2 locals, so please let me know if you are interested having us come talk directly to your members and let them know what is going on here at the State level and what is in our future.
- On Friday, June 21 at 1:00 the LGC will host a public hearing for the "unwinding" of the current structure
